About 4 weeks ago i was going out and got about 10 feet off the dock and I lost forward gear. I still had reverse and managed to get back to the dock. When I opened the bildge it was full of tranny fluid. I pulled the reverse gear and put new seal and clutches in it. I put it bach together and after about 15 seconds it blew the front seal. I went to a place that rebuilds transmissions to get another seal. While I was ther I picked thier brain as to why this would blow the seal the quickly. They determined that my damper plate had worn which causedthe shaft to vibrate which caused the needle bearing to ride up in the housing which in turn bolcked the oil return keywak on the pump housing gear. The pressure built-up and blew the seal. The fix was to get a new damper plate, new seal, and move the needle bearing back about 1/8 inch. I hope this helps someone in the future. Beacuse I was just about ready to throw in the towel.
