HI
I lost my prop and bent my rudder after hitting some unmarked rocks along the shoreline in the howe sound south of squamish. Luckily, I found my prop the next day, but I did not find my prop nut. The prop shaft is "1. Does anyone know where to find a Prop nut. I also managed to straighten my rudder. Any precautions I should take when installing the rudder back in place to prevent leakage.

You may want to repack the stuffimg box . make sure the rudder shaft is turning true if its not it can cause other damage. check with bob here at trojanboats.net on yourprop nuts or your local prop shop. I sure top will need work you need 2 one thick one thin. what about the key ? I would check the prop shaft for being bent . Its not normal to lose a prop when running a ground .

you found your prop?? ya gotta be kidding,? what kind of shape was it in, and how the heck did it come off??

i would check the rudder stock tube to see if it is cracked or bent. i had a situation this spring with what i thought was a leaking rudder stuffing box but upon further investigation, it was discovered by the mechanic that repacked it, a bent rudder stock plate and a cracked tube that was patched with what looked like jb weld or marine tex. the 1/4" brass plate that is welded to the stuffing box was actually 'waved' and could never form a water tight seal on the backing plate. i have pics in my camera if anyone is interested in seeing this. i think what peeves me the most is the surveyor did not even notice this last year when i bought the boat. it was replaced with a new assembly and the back bilge is dry as a bone.
