I'm New to the Trojan thing... We have a deposit on an 11 meter with Detroits.. Our neighbor at the marina has had one for years and repowered it recently with detroits.. Love the ride and economy... But anyway, this surprised me too....

Don't get me wrong as I love Detroits but they are nowhere near economical to run.

No, They are not. Not in a 11 or 12 Meter International with 671TI Detroits.
They use more fuel and are much more expensive to maintain. The only advantage that I have found running both boats with gas and diesel is that they are much faster with the diesel both top end and at cruise and have MUCH more power when the boat is really loaded.
Now if you have a NA version that may be a entirely differant story but I myself have yet to see a pair of NA'S in an International.
