79 tri cabin roof section removal

Post by mark30h »

We are planning to replace the full size refrig and the furniture in our 79 tri cabin. There appears to be no way these are going to pass through the cabin door. Has anyone had any experience in removing and replacing the cabin roof section, and whats involved?

We are doing the exact same thing to our '79 Tri-cabin right now plus replacing the fuel tanks and removing the built-in stove. The top comes off quite easily once the headliner is removed. You shouldn't have any problems.

what actually holds the panel in? Is it sealed with sealant, or is there a gasket?

Mine has clamp-style retainers on the inside and seals with caulking from the outside. My removable panel has a lip that fits down over the opening in the top and then it gets caulked completely around the opening.
