hard top option?

Post by g36 »

has anyone seen this particular company before? (hardtotop)dot com. if you will look at the photos section(link) looks like there is a trojan with one of this tops installed. is this anybodys boat that is on here? if you have seen this in person what kind of thoughts do you have? i have nothing against it. i'm not really sure if i like the look or not. but i like the diy aspect for sure. just found this in boatus and got on the website to check it out.

I contacted them (Al Miller) and got a quote of $1870, which they later reduced to $1432. I decided to build my own and you can see pics of it in this previous topic: http://www.trojanboats.net/wforum/viewt ... highlight=

Looks light weight to me too, but they say "200 times the impact strength of glass". However, I am not too worried about 'impact' unless some stupid bird drops dead and falls out of the sky - I would be more concerned about what happens to it if I am doing 18 knots into a 25 knot headwind... I have seen my existing bimini literally blow up like a balloon, and once I had the straps holding the framing forward snap under the pressure.

Looks very light weight but depending on what you are looking for may be just fine.

I'm thinking on getting one for my boat I figure it'll be up to the task with the side and front canvas hang off it and snap down to the fly bridge. But stand alone I'd ask for prove it can handle the high wind.
