I'm still here,
but had a overheat problem on my F25 last time I took it out. I forgot to check if water was coming from the exhaust and was out about twenty minutes when I smelled something, looked at the heat gauge and it was at 240. I took it off throttle and tried to get back to the slip, but then it started going higher, so shut it down. I threw out the anchor and called my son who got his friend to tow us back to the slip.
I still don't know why it overheated. The next morning went to the boat and the engine started right up and ran great, so it appears there was not damage.
Not being able to work on the engine myself and really can't afford to pay to see what is wrong with it, I'm thinking, perhaps I shouldn't even have the boat?
So, I have been in the dumps lately trying to see if I can figure something out. It is supposed to have a new water pump on it,,but I just don't know?

I can give you some ideas and maybe walk you through this, # 1 do you have or can you borrow an infra red temp gun? If you can start your engine and point the gun at your thermostat and keep an eye on it when it reaches 140 - 160 deg (depending on your engine, not too important yet) the hoseleading to your riser should heat up, this should tell you weather your thermostat is opening or not... also watch your gauges and see if they are in fact working. Also check and see if water is coming out of your exhaust. Let me know what you find and we can move to the next step
