Motor Mount Help

Can anyone tell me about this mount ? The boat is an F30 Clean Machine. It was repowered sometime before I bought it with PleasureCraft Marine Ford 351c. These are the aft mounts. I can't figure out how to dis-assemble these without pulling the lags holding them in.

These are the forward mounts. Seems simple enough. I just remove the nut on top and lift the motor out.

I have done some google-ing and the only mounts that I can find for the PCM Ford are the forward mounts. Maybe the aft are not correct ?

What are you trying to do ? it your pulling the engine pull the lag bolts out

Yes, I am pulling the motors. I thought about pulling the lags, but did not know if that is the best way.

It'll be a good ideal to pull the lags out and inspect the stringers and epoxy and redrill the the mount holes.

Tony is right. Pulling the lags gives you a good chance to inspect the innerds of the stringers.

Thanks for the reply.

Here is the whole story. I have drilled into the stringers, and they are rotted. That is what has led me down this path. Of the four stringers the motors sit on, the inside 2 are mush.

I was trying to leave the mounts in place so I could make a jig, or some other 'placement' system to make sure they go back in the same spot. How critical is getting the motors back in the exact same place ?

Well, thanks for the reply. I didn't buy a project boat to hire the work out. More research is in order.

You could still make a jig out of ply-wood or something and besides when you put the new engines in the mounts can be on them and holes then drilled in the new stringers, then pull them out over drill the holes fill with epoxy and redrill again after you put the motor back in . Well that's my ideal.

Sorry, didn't know you were DIYing. I think the confusion is are you going to repair/replace the stringers?

Sometimes in old work boats (crabing) we've done one of two things :
remove the lags, jam as much 2 part "West System" as we could in then rebed the lags before it dries.

You might also be able to use fabricated aluminum braces to shore up the stringers.

In either case you can carefully jack up the rear, taking the pressure of the mounts, then take out the 2 mount bolts. I've done this when replacing with the exact same year engine. Just a thought

The 2 center stringers are not just rotted, but the previous owner cut them at the mid-ship bulkhead. The stringers forward of the bulkhead are good, so my plan was to sister new ones in.

After thinking about it, I will prob go with your suggestion of taking the lags out. Then make a jig of some king to relocate when they go back in.

I'm trying to think this through , and have been doing alot of reading, but am open to all suggestions. Thanks again for your help.
