FROM AARON, A DAY OF DISCOVERY ON THE TRI CABIN

i was down on the aft cabin floor yesterday reconnecting the water tank strainer when i discovered a cold draft coming from up under the port side dresser (the water tank is under the drawers). since time was running short, i delayed my investigation until later that afternoon (i needed to head home, grab some supper and walk maccabee). armed with a screw driver and a portable light, i removed the side wall above the dresser. first, i noticed that trojan cut 3 plastic tubes in half (they look like plastic PVC pipe, roughly 3.5 inches wide) and laminated them at one foot vertical intervals from just below the rubrail bolts to just below the waterline. i surmise that they thought this was a weak point and incorporated this into the design to strengthen the hull. pretty interesting. but, i digress. i found out the source of my draft. the two hoses were not attached to the rear collector box. the hoses were just hanging on their brackets. so, i took off the excess, reattched the hoses and used gorilla tape to secure them to the collector box. it would also explain whey the dresser top got soaked during the rain storm a few days ago. the rain went right into the air vent and since nothing was there to block the rain, it ended up on the dresser. guess you would call this my macgyver moment.

I've had most of my side walls out in the master for fishing new tv cables in and to Correctly re-bed most of the deck railing stanchons with backer plates. I am shocked that Trojan basicly just screwed them into the fiberglass deck. While into these areas I also noticed the reinforcement ribs all the way around. It's a good thing. But I didn't pay attention to the vent areas. I suspect I have a leak in the exact same area as yours, since the cable I fished over the water tank came out wet. Thanks for the heads up Aaron, going to check this out further.

It really is fun getting to know all of the little things that make up the individual personality of your boat. I had a similar find late last summer only mine was on the aft cabin fire escape door. After a heavy rain I would see a very small drip of water on the starboard side bunk near the aft and starboard hull corner. I traced it down one day to a leaking gasket in the fire escape door. The last person that had closed it, closed a small piece of debris on the gasket surface that was almost invisible until I opened the door. Problem solved, leak gone, happier wife since it usually dripped in her face at night when it rained hard.

My spray rail was rotted all the way through on the starboard side. So I tore half that aft cabin apart and took it off. The port side (bu the bathtub) is a little loose, but nothing big, but I couldn't imagine what one would go through to take half that aft cabin apart and crawl behind the bathtub! Its a pain for what I'm going through.

Only in my port side vents a bird made a nest in there and had to clean it out! Dang birds.

I had to tighten up my rear cleats once, and on the F26 that is a chore getting to them.

Jimmy Hoffa is suspected but not verified. Maybe a diver could clear this up once and for all.

Re-bed ; putting a sealed under them like 4200 under them to stop water.and yes Aaron what is on your prop the world is waiting to find out.

THAT our very curious readers (I am one of them) apperantly is going to be one of Middle River's best kept secrets! I asked him in person about the noise and he won't divulge the info! I think he has Jimmy on his payroll to protect his boat! You remember the Trojan rug? Also to make sure NO ONE puts a Carver sticker on the boat!!
