Again with the starter...

Post by RedBelly »

So I have had zero luck finding a starter to fit my 350. But I have found a bell housing with an bottom slung starter and the correct flywheel to match.

Still hoping to move her down to the Bodkin before Christmas...

If the starter mounts from the rear it needs to turn the opposite of the front mount starter .

what type of starter are your Turning to find ? should be easy for a 350 . normal or opposite rotation . Bet I can find one . post your info and I will find you a link to one.

If you have the old one, my buds at Pasco can rebuild it better than new

I have pictures of the starter, the back of the bell housing and will post some numbers as I get them. I am off-site for a day or three on another project and have very spottty internet, but I do have cel service. If I can upload to photobucket from my reclaim, I'll post pictures tonight. Otherwise it might be a few days.

I appreciate this, I have a vintage Penn Senator rig to whomever can get me down the bay before Christmas. If you need to contact me off this page it's redbellies@gmail.com

Thanks.

Well, I get no support from my marina, can't upload pics from my phone, I'm stuck in West-By-God for a few days, no internet or cel in the valley and as soon as I get out of here it's off to FL for a week. Looks like it's not going to happen. Thanks for the encouragement, advice and the messages, folks. I'll get back on this in 10 days or so.

I take it your not at a good marina if they can't find you a starter for a SB Chevy.

When you pay $5 per foot per month wet and $4 per foot per month dry, no survey, no insurance and no questions, you have to take the bad with the good. Unfortunately the bad is alcoholism, drug addiction, violence and stupidity. One of the drunks cooked a Mainship last weekend by overamping a shore power cord. Sadly, the dockmaster/mechanic was an engineer on Pride of Baltimore II and Clipper City in his younger, sober days. And now he lives with his psycho girlfriend on an unpowered, abandoned F32.

Any questions about why I need to get my boat out of there?

Have you talked to Joe at Cobe Marine on Ft. Smallwood rd.? He stocks 95% of the engine parts out there. What yard are you at now? You could always call Frank Dolan who operates Baltimore Recovery out of Bodkin creek, see what he charges for relocation.

I'll be back in MD tomorrow, plan to swing by Cobe if they're still open. Thanks. Oh, and I'm at Maurgale.

Didn't. Cobe was closed when I got in last night, tied up all day. Leaving for Ft Myers at dawn. It will wait. But thanks for asking.
