Meter Radar Arch's
Been getting some quotes. $3000 was the cheapest, and $5000 was the most expensive. Does this seem reasonable? I love the look of the stock arch, but an aluminum one would probably be more useful for what our 10M is going to be used for. An aluminum one will prolly cost $2000. I really want the stock arch. Don't you love how I am talking in thousands?

Any good fiberglass shop should be able tyo take an old arch off of some other boat and modify it to fit this application.
The arch is attached by (as I recall) six fasteners in the gunels.
The moisture compromised wood in my arch was unable to handle the 145 mph sustained winds of Hurricane Charley, and the arch buckled slightly causing two stress cracks in the fiberglass, seriously weakening the arch.
We removed the arch and and all the wood inside it.
Two pieces of square aluminum tube were bent to the curvature of the arch and glassed in with a structural aluminum plate atthe base on both sides.
The result was an arch far more solid than the factory original and not susceptible to any future moisture damage.
I imagine you cluld easily do the same if the fiberglass company bent two similar aluminum tubes, then cut the new arch in th emiddle to add width for the beam. Otherwise you will need some custom fiberglass cointour at the base on both sides.
Our arch handles the radar (with all around light attached) thew Patrick adjustible radar support, two cockpit floodlights and the GPS antenna.
Someday we'll add a digital TV antenna, if we ever add the flatscreen TV that we haven't yet bothered to add yet.
If you get serious about this I will be happy to take some close up detail pictures that will be of some help.

Thanks! The boat is on "the rebuild line". Santa was here with two new engines for Christmas, and I will repower the boat in 4-6 weeks. But I need a new instrument panel, and a new Mansfiels toilet. All the rest I have here in the basements.

A word of encouragement on th einstrument panel - I rebuilt mine and it's posted somewhere here on this website. Looks like new and can be easily done by a novice like me at home on a workbench.

Radar Arch collapsed
86 10 meter radar arch collasped last year due to excessive snow, and as a result of the wood supports rotted out. I used conduit and bent it to fit the curve of the arch. While this held the arch up there was significant sway an we installed on the inside of the arch on each side a brace that looks as if it were handrail to hold on to. If you would like a picture please send me a email and I would be happy to give you more specifics
