Hello all,
Yesterday I received my insurance forms along with their quote. I must make out a SELF SURVEY FORM. On the form it ask many question about the boat, one being "how many Fire Extinguishers on board and their last inspection date? I did a Google search on inspections of fire extinguishers and all more or less were self inspections. Nothing about mandatory inspection from a professional or at what interval.
I have the fire ext. which is a non fillable one shot model. The gage is in the green, pin in place etc.
So what sort of date is it that they require, be used?
They also asked the same about "flares" and date of expiration, I'll have to check on any dates that are on them.
It also asked if "all fuels drain overboard in the event of an accidental overflow"?
As far as I know that won't happen on the F25? Is it suppose to?
I went over the questions and listed ones I will have to look at, but nothing I don't think is cause for alarm.
Even with the required membership per year, the quote was cheaper than Progressive.
Any thoughts on my questions will be most helpful.
Thanks,
Larry

Fire extinguisher should be checked often monthly is good if you only have one time to by another look at the bottom for a date / if over 5/6 years old its time to replace . also a good idea to shake them when checking becuse the pounding they take on a boat can pack the chemical to the bottom.
on the fuel over flow your vent is over board and if you were to overfill at the filler where would the fuel go ? look at it but overboard I would be my guess .
so the answer would be yes

Larry, what Paul said. Also, if while refueling it burps up the fill pipe and overflows at the inlet, will it go overboard or into the boat? There are inlets that have built in edges to divert overflow overboard when the filler is on a horizontal surface. If it's mounted on a slight angle and fuel would natuarally run overboard instead of inside, then you're OK.

I beleve they just don't want it flowing into the boat is why they ask .
I have racor LG100 check valves the stop my fuel from flowing over board on my vents . I recomend them to everyone.

Ya Paul. When they bring that up, they are talking about the fill port. The vent spill will always be overboard and if not caught in time eventually will come out the fill port or can happen from burping. When it does, the hull design or hardware used must direct the spill overboard.
