FRUSTRATION AND ENJOYMENT
hello fellow Tojan Owners,
I usually stop by this forum a few times a day to see whats going on with Trojan owners across the world and enjoy reading about others projects, enjoyment of thier boats, I have been on a path of getting the boat the way we want it with little time set aside to just enjoy it, and then, I experienced a heart attack back in June, my left decending artery had a blockage and it practically killed me, as a note, I am 47, in above average health, I dont smoke and am not over weight, heart disease is not in my family either, anyways, this put a damper on my projects, mostly the engine repower. After a brief recovery period, my work has been very busy, and this is not a complaint, however, it has left me little time to get the engines in the boat. This past labor day weekend I missed a club raft up that I had set as a goal for the completion of the repower. The engines are still sitting in my garage, no closer than before, thus the frustration. Instead of being depressed, my wife and I spend a fair amount of time over the weekend on LARK, we had friends down, consumed delicious adult beverages and food, the kids played in the water on the dingy and paddle boards, and we really enjoyed the boat anyway. While I would have much rather been underway or at anchor, I didn't let the engine set back ruin the weekend, nor did I work (labor) on the boat all weekend, we enjoyed how much it has come along in the year or so we have owned her, I know I had forgotten why we bought her, while we want LARK to be finished, we really own boats to enjoy.....

Well thank God you are still here to enjoy it. I hope your heart, pardon the pun, is in the right place now. Take it easy, your vessel will still be there waiting for your return when your strength and health are back in check. Sounds like you took time to just relax. I hope all your heart issues are in check now and I(and my fiancee) wish u a speedy recovery. Remember you cant enjoy your watery friend if ur not here!
God bless mate!

You never know what cards life deals - you just rool with it.
Glad to hear you're alive ... that's the main thing!
I enjoy my F32 mostly at the ck, but then again, its behind my house.
Good luck with the restoration my friend. At least you have goo weather there through the winter to catch up!
You're at Dana Point, right? Been there many times. My father used to sail out of there - even did some sailing with Mr. Hobie. Ste mother hails from Rancho Palos Verdes, and Step Bro is on the cliffs in Newport Beach.
Great area - but I miss the Red Onion!

Welcome to the club with two engines sitting in the shop ready waiting on other parts of myTrojan odyssey.
BTW I am 65 and have survived one bout of cancer, every day is a new one and I do not worry about it.
I will enjoy the Trojan eventually.

Hey guys,
I really appreciate the kind words, however, the intent of my post was to be encouragement to everyone, as you read the posts, mine included, most are about some sort of issue with our tirals and tribulations of owning these old boats. broken water pumps, worn out engines, rotted wood, soft decks, dirty bilges, chaulky gel coats, my intent was to say stop and enjoy her if you already are not. you never know what can happen and it could all be gone....
thanks again!

Well mines on the hard now. I have the luxury of enjoying my boat even though I havent driven it yet. I enjoy my f26 that sits in my yard , oh and some of her I enjoy in my basement and still again I enjoy parts of her at my buddy's machine shop getting ready to tear the engine down. I think I'll have just as much fun plugging away and making repairs slowly as I will actually driving her. I like the fact I have some of her spread out my town so shes never to far away ..lol wife nicknamed it the yard gnome until completion .. Best of luck to you and go easy .
I've spent some great time aboard without leaving the slip, covered berth with nothing behind me....great view......as long as I'm on the boat life is good......................John
