Material to replace side panels where seats were mounted

I want to replace the material that is "picture framed" inside the wood trim boards on both sides of the cockpit on ky F-26. IT has lots of holes from previous owners. I removed all the screws from the wood trim and it came out as an assembly. It appears that material is some kind of white laminate on a thin sheet of wood that is back mounted to the wood trim frame. Does anybody know a good material to use?

My F25 has a white polyester foam covered with a vinyl. Looks good and is not hard to the touch.
Gives it that upholstered look.

You could go with that, and choose any vinyl coloured covering you wish to match other colour schemes on your boat.

To update mine, I cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit into the recessed face of the existing panel and upholstered it with a light foam and white vinyl. Then screwed it on from the back of the original panel. Now my cockpit walls are bolstered and trimmed off with the original teak.

The picture below shows enough of the panel to get the idea,

Thanks for the pic. Gives me some ideas now.

Did you do something to the bulkhead surface (where your fire extinguisher is mounted). Mine is a wood laminate surface and is all faded and oxidized. I've been thinking of painting it white to freshen it up. Was yours originally wood laminate like mine?

That bulkhead in our boat was originally a dark walnut Formica and was still in pretty good shape but was a little too dark. To brighten things up, we cleaned and scuffed it then refaced it with a textured white Formica.
