I am forgetting - did the '74 have wooden roof with vinyl over or was it glassed by then? My father had a '69 28-footer that we had to do the roof on.... at first we got away with digging out the bad wood, zapping with git-rot, and filling. Eventually it got to the point that we pulled the drip-rail, peeled the vinyl back, and replaced the bad ply and edge piece. The edge piece was a bugger because of the contours, but we eventually managed to shape a piece of oak. The ply was easy.
Getting 20 year old vinyl off, and then stretched back over it without tearing was less easy... Plus these days you might have trouble finding ply the exact same thickness as the 35+ year old stuff on the boat... these days an inch doesn't appear to be what it used to be ...

I wonder if you bought my old 74 Searaider. I sold it many years ago, it had a flybridge than. I'm in the Lake Erie/Lake St. Clair area.
