F31 Fuel Tanks
I have a 1972 F31 with two Ford 302's and two gas tanks. Gas will flow from both tanks but not equally. On one occasion one tank went empty and the other was nearly full. Any advice on how to fix this.
do both engines run off both tanks or is it each engine runs on its own tank - checking the fuel lines for this number, when we first bought ours the engines were lined to both tanks im not sure thats the way it should have been so we went to one tank per engine and got much better effeciancy - what about the idle and timing - maybe the idle could be set higher on one than the other, just a thought, ive never really had any problems with the tanks except the before mentioned

Thanks for the response. Both engines run off both tanks with what appears to be an unequal balance. I am not sure how to get at any screens, etc. that may be causing some flow pattern problems. Your suggestion of mapping one tank to one engine may be the most reasonable solution. The port tank consumes 3-4 times the amount of fuel as the starboard tank. The boat is used mostly for trolling and averages 1.7 hours per gallon of gas. I am new to boats so not sure what this should be. We troll on one engine and try to switch engines on a regular basis to equalize the use.
