Have had some healthy following seas during the last three seasons, but have not had a problem...the bottom of my walk thru is 21" from the waterline, and for what its worth the opening is somewhat protected by the swim platform itself.

My apologies, Foofer...I missed your post.

Well, boating in shallow Lake Erie (outer Long Point Bay) gets treacherous very quickly at times.
Reknown as the "Graveyard of the Great Lakes" we get storms from the west that produce some nasty swells & chop...eg. this past summer we were enjoying a calm but hot day about 7 miles out...within 15 mins...there were 40 plus knot winds and within 30 mins... 5-6 foot waves around 14-16 feet apart . The boat out there take quite a pounding when this happens.
Don't know about anybody elses Trojan, but mine can't out run those freak bursts.

As for the cost:
I guess in total the walk thru took about 8 hours over three different days....was fairly easy to cut, after getting the nerve to start - used the old reciprocating saw....I was in no rush while doing it, and had fully planned it out, start to finish. Cost about $160

I think we all need to see how easy it is to use going on and off the platform say a Bond girl

Please, never apologize to us Florida or Gulf boaters as to the seas you Great Lakes guys endure.You fellows have horrendous conditions that blow up at a minutes notice.
