carb question

My old engines have carter carbs. I just got them back from being cleaned and rebuilt. The 2 carbs are different. The starboard engine has the carter afb which is bigger around than the 1 on the port engine. Is this going to be a problem? Will the bigger 1 burn more fuel? They are both 4 barrels. Not sure why they arent the same.

If they're jetted the same they'll put in the same amount of fuel.

The carb with carter afb has the accelator "s" linkage backwards. This carb is the replacement for the orginal afb. The electic choke is great. But make sure that the chokes comes off quickly

First of all, I know nothing about carberators. You have to explain it to me like your talking to a third grader. lol. I have no idea about the jets, And I dont know what you mean about the accelerator. I know the chokes are different, but when I took the old engines apart the one with the electric choke had about a 2 foot long red wire on it, but it wasnt plugged itnto anything on the other end. where does it plug up to? Here is a top view of both of them.

The bottom one looks identicle to mine, it uses the pocket in the intake for heat to pull choke off. Electrics were used on autos for years.
The carbs should have had an aluminum tab with numbers on them if so check with edlebrock for specifications to see if same jets and size of holes.
Also the carb identifying number is stamped on the side of the bottom of the carbies.

antlr-king, alittle off topic. I live in Palm Bay and my boat is docked at Treasure Coast Marina in Grant. Could not tell from the picture where your boat is docked. I am looking to move at the end of the month. Do you like where you are?

I think he's talking about this "S" clip from the accelerator arm to the pump, circled in red...Also, I believe you should only have flexible fuel hose, marine grade and crimped from shut off valves, water separator or manifolds to fuel pump. From there to the carb, should be rigid fuel line. And, the throttle lever stop tang is bent, just to the right of the circle in pic.

+12v when the ignition is on.

You need the specs for those carbs to make sure they are jetted the same and are flowing the same CFM"s ( air flow Cubic Feet per Minute ), I think 550 CFM's is fairly common also the positive wire from the choke needs to go to ignition 12V possibly from the rear of the alternator if you can find the wire that gets hot with ignition.
