i have posted pictures of this carb before. but i was looking it over today. and there is this port by where the fuel line goes in. that was never hooked up to anything on the old engine. now that its on the new engine i was wondering where this is supposed to be hooked to. does anyone know?
Do you have a line from your fuel pump to the carb? I think there is normally a narrow hose so that if a leak develops in the pump, the fuel is sucked into the carb to burn instead of dripping into the bilge. That could be what this port is for.
i think your right. my other engine has that, but this one doesnt. if my fuel pump doesnt have that attachment what should i do? plug or cap off that port?
here is the fuel pump in question. its on the stb engine. it came off the old engine. must be automotive. i will be changing it.
this is the port side engine fuel pump. it also came off the old engine. it does however have the vent you speak of.
i cant get a very good picture of it with a flash light. but you can see there is a clear hose coming from the pump going to the carb. thats the way it was on the old engine. i took many pics from all angles and put everything back the way it was. i have no idea if it was right or uscg approved or not. thanks for the info. i guess that clear hose needs to be fuel line instead of clear tubing?

You need the one with the tube fitting. The line should be clear so you can see through it. Go to an ATV, snowmobile shop etc. they will have clear fuel rated line.
