FROM TRI CABIN AARON, A PERSONAL MESSAGE TO YOU ALL
good morning fellow trojan owners. while i understand that this forum is not really an outlet for social media, i feel compelled to let my fellow troajan (carver, too) owners and friends in on something that is very personal. i can use all the positive thoughts and energy i can muster. late thursday afternoon i was informed that i have a form of colon cancer. the physician was so concerned that he scheduled an emergency colonoscopy the next day. the initial discovery was 'clear pipes', BUT, there is a 3mm mass of 'malignant nature' located in, how can i say this with out being too clinical, inside and outside, if you catch my drift. scared does not even begin to describe how i feel right now. today, tuesday the 29th, i am scheduled for an RNA/DNA sonogram. this way we can see if, god forbid, it's migrated any where else. hopefully no. after these tests, i will then meet w/ my CR specialist to seek out the assistance of an oncologyst. treatment options that were presented to me last week were 1. chemo 2. targeted radiation or a 3. combo of both. one thing that my physician is saying is by the mass being mostly surface growth, that is a good thing. if a cancer diagnosis can be a good thing. he did mention that there is a fairly high cure rate, however, we all know that there are no absolutes. so, i send out the word, far and wide, to my brothers and sisters of the trojan community. your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated, and, if any of you have gone through something like this, i'd really love to know that i will be around for some time.
regards.
aaron
and yeah, this was a really bold step on my part, but hey, i have nothing to hide here.

Be strong, my friend. We would all be afraid with news like this. I hope you can take solace from us who try to reassure you. You are not alone. I too hope for more positive news in the days ahead. Take care,
Wow Aaron - thanks for letting us know, and thoughts and prayers your way for you, Phil, and Macabee.
You've been a good and most helpful friend since we met on here 3 1/2 years ago and just as you have offered to so many on here to come and help if they needed it, I make the same offer to you my friend - if you need anything just say so and I'll do my best to do whatever is needed - honest.

Aaron,
My wife has a good friend (female) who was similarly afflicted a year and a half ago and underwent chemo & radiation treatment and is now back to riding her Harley and working fulltime as if nothing took place..... it sounds as if your situation is early enough that it can be dealt with in total too.
Be prepared to do stomach sleeping when going through radiation.....
All the best and sending positive thoughts... these days Cancer treatment is so much more advanced and the knowledge of 'what to do to what' is so great that your chances of a full recovery are very high.
Positive thinking on your part will also help your outcome.....

Good luck Aaron, A cancer diagnosis is no longer a death notice. I have had a form of cancer that I have known abour for the last 3 years. I just go on enjoying each and every day. No one that I have ever met can tell you how much time you have left for any reason. One of my very good friends was diagnosed with terrible prostate cancer 11 years ago and they didn't expect him to survive very long. He is still, pardon the expression, sailing on Long Island Sound. If I were you, I'd look for a cancer support group and go talk with some of the "survivors" and listen to their experiences before making any final decisions. All my good thoughts are going out to you.
