Bilge water

Post by fourreins »

Always curious where the water comes from that settles in the bilge? Summer has been real dry and I always thought the water that settles there was probably from rain. Anything else to cause the water in the bilge?

Fresh water system? Any of the thru hulls includung rudder ports? You will have to get in the bilge area to check it out to know for sure. Just to many possibilities. Could be a hose on the engine if its raw water cooled.

Same problems here:

I always thought the water that settles there was probably from rain.

Every single part was checked, scuppers at the cockpit working now - still more water

shaft drip ( normal ) Checked - just some drips

AC drip ( normal ) condensation - not existent

Fresh water system today flushed all water from tank - looks better

Any of the thru hulls includung rudder ports rudder ports checked - just drops

Could be a hose on the engine if its raw water cooled. the hose of gen was laying down at the bilge with open ventile  Running water like a tap

Since we brought back our lady in to life we have got this water problem.
Will report any success tomorrow !

Coming closer to find out the problem:

We have some 'inspection hatch' (how do you call it ?) on top of the fresh water tank.

If this is fully filled up it leaks by driving on the heels (means the front is lift off the water).

Could that leaking hatch being our problem ???

Check the rudder stuffing boxes. Both drive stuffing boxes.

Hello owner of 'Desperado' :D

My name is Heiner - from Germany. How can I name you ?
Very welcome here in our gang and congrats to your new vessel

The rudder shafts are already controlled - just some drips - as I wrote above.
This time it is just a case of rotten waterlines from fresh water tank and this
'inspection hatch' (still don't know the correct name).

I would like to see some pictures of your boat, our's you can find here easily.
