Hampton Public Piers this Saturday Night

Post by vabeach1234 »

Can it be true? The S.S. Dock Sitter (Paula Sea) is heading to Hampton this Saturday night.

A buddy asked when we were going to do a boat trip and held me to it. Looks like good weather, wind-wise.

I will try to post some pics of the short journey. I made reservations and they only have room for me in the "Cove". Sounds like it will be busy.

My credit card bill will most likely have evidence of me partaking of a "few" drinks at the Taphouse and Marker 20.

Looking forward to it.

Of course last night I discovered that my water tank is leaking. Ugh... will it ever end?

Yep. Sure did. Nice ride there and back. The heavy beers at the Taphouse didn't treat me so well though.

We arrived at Hampton before the rain so it worked out well.

There was a boat club from Richmond there on some "Go Fast" boats. They motored down that day. Talking with one of the guys from the club and he told me that it took them 1 1/2 hours!! I asked what they cruised at and he said with out blinking an eye, 50 mph. I asked him what his burn rate is at that speed and he just shruged his shoulders and said "I don't know". Must be nice, $$$$$$...

Here some pictures of the trip.

I just noticed that u guys r in the VA beach area. I just bought my Trojan. Its currently in VA beach and I'm planning on moving it to Marina shores Marina. I'm having trouble getting someone to call me back to do some repairs. Any help with some suggestions on someone to repair the decks of my boat would be great

Total restoration. But I really just need the decks roof of cabin and hard top replaced/fixed. I plan on doing the rest my self. Going. To actually remove both Chrysler's.next year and convert/replace with a single 3208 cat Turbo diesel :-)

Tuna, I found that most yards on the south side don't like to do restore work on smaller boats say 42' and under do to the walk away factor of the owners, You'd have better luck looking at boat yards over in Chesapeake or up on the peninsula in Gloucester or Middlesex co. it's not going to be cheap. If you start a tread on the subject you'll get all kind of info a lot of guys have done DIY deck repairs.

Thanks. But it's amazing how a little bit of distance and lower resolution will make a boat look clean. I just patched and painted the hard top so that does have some shine to it but the finish on the rest of the boat is in sad shape. I have to fix a soft spot along the gunnel at the water fill and then paint the remainder of the topsides. I'm considering painting the hull (below rubrail to waterline) during my next haul out.

Thanks Jeff. It will be a while from now though. Besides, I think my galvanized steel fuel tanks have finally caught up with me. I need to prioritize what needs to be done to her. Fuel tank issues are definately more important than paint.
