History
I'm a sailor at heart and I had noticed this boat at the marina i was at. I liked the lines. I also noticed that no one worked on it. So I asked around and found out that a friend new it was up for sale but it had been parted out.
Long story short. I bought the hull for $100. A friend trailered it home for me and she this is where she has been sitting since 2000. I also put may sailboat on the hard. I became self employed and that consumed me and my time.
About 2002 I found a power train saw it run installed it. It sat for about 18 mos and then would not start. After a head rebuild found that i had lost compression.
She sat until 2010 when I decided that all work and no play was not fun. The sailboat went back in and I began work on the trojan. I found a power train installed and it fired up. Yahoooo!!!
In December of 2010 by sailboat which was anchored out had debris get caught up on the bowline and it snapped and ended up beached. That's another sea story. I will tell you this we got it back in the water in march of 2011 and i was sailing by August. In Dec I put it up on the hard to focus on this.
Which brings us current. Sanctuary 2 engine runs. I have salvage parts from my other power train. Which was counter rotating. I need a raw water pump so i flipped it upside down to run it temp. I had a broken bracket on the windshield which has been reattached with 5200.
I have put a new strut and spacer on. I have sealed all thru hulls with rubber plugs and sealed them with 5200. I will back these up with hose and ball valves.
I'm going to re install my raw water inlet with a "T" connector so i can attach a garden hose or use a 5 gal bucket to run it on the hard. I also read that it could be used if God forbid to open the valve in an extreme flooding beyond the capacity of pumps and pump overboard via the raw water system.
I will install and seal my exhaust thru hulls. Which will make it seaworthy.
The windshield will be installed and sealed.
By the way does anyone have any tips on installing them?
More pics to follow....that's my story and I'm sticking to it......lol

Welcome. Looks like a 1971 or 1972 F26, those years had the V-drive step up. Keep up the progress. Before you get too far into in it, you may want to consider replacing the galvanized fuel tanks if you haven't already. I have to change out mine soon.

Thanks to all who have welcomed me.
From pic i have seen before I place the year in the early 70's
It is a V drive set up.
The tanks are galvanized and i hope they hold up for a season or two..I filled them with water then pumped them. No leaks.
The seem to hold approximately 25 gal each.

Welcome to the forum. If it has a V drive and is an F26, it has to be either a 1971 or 1972. It looks similar to my 1971 F26, but the design of the side window frame is different from mine and my railing gate is in the middle of the transom. From the picture it looks like yours is on the side. I'm not sure if Trojan offered different options with the windows and railings, so even though its different from mine it might still be a 1971. If the engine is original, the serial number of the engine can be used to determine the year of the boat.

I'm buy F26 71 or 72.
There was no engine in it when I bought it. The engine you see now is fwc out of a Silverton. It still has a coil and points set up. So i figure it from that same time frame.
May understanding is that 74 start the electronic ignition systems
I think orignal eng was rwc
Thank you all for the info. Keep it coming.

We tie up to fill our batteries and check our fuel.

hi jim, in the 'old days' most trojans were indeed raw water cooled. they did not even offer closed cooling on our tri cabin in 1972. but, it was never an issue as we boated in fresh water. after a year, dad had a 'fresh water flush kit' added to the engines when we would take her to the chesapeake. the flush system came in handy when dad had BUBALA 3 shipped to san diego in 1996 though. when he had the risers and manifolds changed shortly after her relocation, the mechanic remarked at how 'clean' the old parts were. he could even see the original casting stamps inside them. a tribute to dad's forward thinking!! however, our kohler 7.5kw genset was closed cooled.

Finished bolting up the strut and sealing it today. It Douglas fir sealed with
resin. I used marine goop as a filler then sealed with 5200. It takes days to dry due to it not being quick set 5200... I'm not fond of it.
Anyone know any reason not to use quick set?

Nothing wrong with the quik set . Just not as strong as the slow cure (700psi vs 600 ) and not as as stretechable ( but close )
