318 engine module is it the same as automotive

Is the ignition module same part as automotive...mine died at the dock...changed port to starboard...module is dead but I can't find part numbers

Yes its the same part as auto at half price, the pin count doesnt matter they both work. Also the box has no spark so no bildge problems.

Not sure why the pin count doesnt matter, my friend had one with the wrong count and it worked. After I saw him do this I asked around and got the same answer that the boxes are the same and its ok to use.

The #3 pin isn't used in some applications. Plug is set up for 5 pins but some only have 4 there. #3 usually used in a dual ballast application otherwise not needed.

Fyi canuck boaters......shop out these parts.....I started at a high of $120 all the way down to $16........no reason not to have spares at that price.....especially given how easy it is to change out with out tools....

Thanks for the info...It sould be illegal to charge 5 times more just because it's for "marine use" !
