I am in the middle of a job repainting all window trim on my '79 F32 (front, sides, and salon door framing) before the cold sets in. I pulled the salon door off to improve access, and have initial prep, spot priming of exposed aluminum, as well as the first formal undercoat on. Next is sanding the PreKote and then laying on 2 coats of Brightside (hopefully next weekend).
My wife has decided that we could get better results painting the door if the lock wasn't in it at the time, and wants me to pull the lock mechanism out.
Looking for anyone who has had experience pulling and reinstalling this lock system to talk about it so I can decide whether to try to pull it or not. My fear is not being able to get it back in properly, as I have read some old posts about flimsy construction.
F32 sliding door lock - removal / reinstall experiences?

When I got our F36, ours was broken. I ordered a replacement from Bob (this site). New one came, I put it in. I don't recall it being any big deal at all. Just two screws I think.
