PICS OF AN INTERNATIONAL METER DESIGN I DO NOT RECOGNIZE ...

Post by aaronbocknek »

greetings folks. saw this trojan international at the boat yard near my marina today and had to snap a few pics. i do not recognize this particular design or model year. was this the final design prior to the carver takeover?
the swim platform is built in and the exhaust is part of it. i've never seen a delta conic 'meter yacht' with tunnel drives. just curious if anyone out there can ID this particular model/style/year.
thanks.
aaron

Aaron,

I believe you are looking at a 12 Meter International.

As someone who has now discovered a rather unknown, yet fine wine, we really need to get you into a Meter boat.

It is the "newly" designed 12 meter which was produced from 1989 to 1992. It took some of the new design ideas from the 10.8 Meter Express that was being built. The 12 meter still used the delta conic hull. This is one of my favorite boats, especially with the 450 hp detroits. I think it has a top speed of approx 35 mph, which I was told that this combo was probably Trojan's most successful set-up for performance.

for right now, my tri cabin is the one for me. although, i DO like the 10.8 sedan because i need windows to see out of when i'm in the cabin. i am not fond of feeling like i'm in a cave in bad weather. i actually looked at a few prior to my tri purchase in oct of 2010. i have ridden on mike and cathy kulp's mid cabin in rough seas and i really liked the way she handled the water. one never knows though. i saw the '400' on yachtworld. love the interior design on this one.
i think what has grabbed my attention recently was the decision to manufacture this radical design in the early 80's and how it set the tone for other boat builders to copy the design concept for their 'express' cruisers.

Aaron,

You have a beautiful boat, but I would love to see another International guy. There is an 11 Meter Convertible on the dock that I love. I will say, there aren't many boats that get more attention than the Trojan Internationals at the dock, except maybe the new Million dollar Sea Ray, which in 5 years won't get any more attention. The 10.8 has the solid glass hull, but that 12 M convertible is the size of an apartment. That boat with the rumble of 2 cycle Detroits....brings a smile....

Seems like a pretty decent price if she passes the survey. Expecially if you could get her for under 70. These are beautiful boats. Although the comment that she is "Bertram built" makes shake my head.
