I need to do some touch up painting or complete repaint of my boats exterior window frames. There are also a couple rust spots under the paint I need to address and repair. Any information on how I should prep the surfaces and also what I should use to prime and repaint the metal frames? Are the frames aluminum?

All information and assistance is greatly appreciated!

I have a similar job in progress for my F32. Started last fall but cold weather stopped me before we finished. My biggest problem this spring has been humidity - have NO interest in the mess I would end up with trying to do a final coat at 80F and 80% humidity! I can share pics when done. We are using Interlux Brighside for the paint job, and used Interprotect 2000 as the surface primer (where bare aluminum was exposed and duly sanded and solvent washed first, then immediately slathered in Interprotect before oxidation set in), with Pre Kote as the undercoat (over everything, before the Brightside got applied).

I painted the window frames on the F26 using Rust-Oleum marine paint. Before I started painting I clean the surface using I think a vingegar/water solution to prep the surface if I remember right. It has been holding up well so far (three years).
