Winter blocking

Post by Diverted Income »

Was thinking of haul out this coming Friday. What makes the most sense, block it neutral, bow or stern high? Was thinking bow high to run water out of bilge drain on travel lift then actually blocking bow low for storage. It will be inside this year. Just wondering how to get most of the water out the easiest.
Thanks!

Have you got a seacock at the bow, mine is on the port side. If so you want bow low, stern high.
Season is short, we make the best of it.

Does the keel water migrate out of the hidden bilge and to the stern then? Thanks!

I block bow down... Then use manual pump and shamwow to remove any excess under step ahead of V berth. I have drained and sealed my hollow keel previously but if it were open the bow down is best way to get water out IMO.

I have no stern plug and find the bow fitting to be about 1" above water level so don't use that either.

Bow down, use a siphon to drain the hollow keel, and pour a half gallon of plumbing antifreeze into the bilge to deal with whatever water might be left.

I have two plugs and both stay in. Wet vac and shamwow out anything remaining.
