1) I had to replace one of the ignition key switches. How much current rating is required for this? Is 15 amp ignition and 30 amp solenoid sufficient for a 454?
2) I have a remote controlled spotlight to install. I know there was one previously installed so I did some digging last night to find what wiring remains. I ended up finding a dead-end wire so I got side-tracked and chased it for about 40 feet down to the engine room and up to the galley. In one of the galley cabinets I found a mysterious box. It had both AC power and DC power running to it and a couple coaxial cables. Can anyone identify this for me? Couldn't find a mfg or part number anywhere on it. Picture is below.
A TV antenna booster seems like a reasonable guess. It had both AC and DC power wired to it. Two coaxial type wires coming out of it were just bundled up next to the box. One ran all the way up to the flybridge (antenna wire perhaps?). The DC power was wired directly to the battery so this wasn't an original factory install. Picture of the front is below.
I agree with Paul, looks like a TV antenna controller. From the looks of the multi-pin socket, it may have been a directional unit that could adjust/point remotely for better signal acquisition. Is my age showing?

Yep both Bid D and Paul are correct. I still have one of them on my boat. But, I'm not as old as them...put together! LOL

The reason I post questions here is for all your age and expertise! Thanks guys! I wasn't even born yet when my boat was built so a lot of this stuff baffles me.
Next I need to get rid of the AC receptacle in the engine room that was supplying power to that antenna box. I know, I know, sparks...engine room....gas boom.... I will be fixing it right away. I'm a little surprised the surveyor I had on the boat last summer didn't notice or say anything about it.

I see this a lot . Not good on a gas boat .
It is the norm on diesel boats as many use block heaters .
