airconditioning?

I have one and it does blow cold air but really does not cool the boat.
What about those deck vent airconditioners?
do they work can I install two?
I just looked up the info on this boat air and it is a King aire 19000 btu.
Should be plenty to cool but I know one thing and that is the installation which is under the dinette seat.
There is one double grill which vents into the dinette area and directly opposite to the left of the lower steering console.
I know he has no return air grill anywhere and that could be the problem-In theory there should be the same amount of air returning as outlet air.
I will look tomorrow when I go to the boat.
I just found this in his manuals.

there should be a intake somw where , also check the water flow . 19000 , is a little on the small size but your in a cooler area then I am . Trojan used 2 12000 btu A/C units when the install A/C on the earlery F36 (duel unit option) later on they used a 16000 and a 8000 . The salon is like a green house and hard to cool .

thanks-I will take a look. I know one thing and that is it does not do the job.The air is really ice cold but very small output to cool a salon on an F36.
I don't remember seeing any other grill except the one double output grill-If anything I would put and adjustable grill on the dinette side of the double grill so I can close it and get more pressure to the salon area.they show a layout in the manual for the dinette install but have the return grill under one of the seats but I don't remember seeing one..I 'm going there this morning but I have a ton of other things to do also. this unit also has a heater and then they even had another separate heater up in the front sleeping berth and I know that one really works well because last year when we brought the boat from seneca lake to rochester we stayed over night boat on it and it was very cool outside at night but the heater was great.

Sounds like you have air flow problems as you suggest, if it cannot get enough return air the evaporator (cold section) will chill down and even ice up. My boat is under a seat and has output grill and on the side of seat has area for return air. Also you will need to check the back side of the evaporator for clogging. If no filter has been used there is a good chance that can be covered over with gunk and create air flow restriction, ergo possible icing again.

I went there and it did have a register under the seat-never saw that or even looked for it but for a filter he had a furnace filter that he cut to size with a scissors.
Plugged solid also he made a wooden plenum for the return air side but it was not sealed right.
there is an opening at the top of his plenum the full width about a 1/2 wide which means he was drawing air from underneath the dinette seat.
I will have to make my own plenum out of sheet panning and see if I can get two 7" runs from it. One on each side of the return air if I have room.
I think the register was 10X8 so that is 80 square inches and the area of two 7" circles is close. I would put one run in the dinette area and the other in the salon somewhere.
Thats if I can find the time but I will at least seal it and stop it from drawing air from underneath the dinette seat.
