1979 Trojan F30 Project Boat

Post by jhoran01 »

I am looking at this boat this weekend and I wanted to know what to look for, It is a total project boat. I wanted to know what might be a red flag and something that would make it unfixable.

Welcome to the forum!! First off, the only thing that makes one of these boats unfixable is your budget!!

There is much great advice, and many here have more experience with this than me, but I would offer this advice:

Get a knowledgable surveyor to perform a pre=buy survey. stringers and deck cores are you suspect areas to check closely.

Get the mechanical systems of the boat evaluated by not only someone qualified, but experienced in older inboard systems.

Be willing and prepared to walk away. You can easily spend 5 grand buying a 25 grand project ifsomeone else will be doing the work.

Good luck, and post pics. I hear people here really like pictures!
