Post by g36 »

i ran across this boat on yachtworld see link. i have not seen a boat with medallion as part of its description, can someone tell, is this related to some options the boat had when it was built or what? just curious. if the link i copied doesnt work just go to yachtworld do a search on 1978 f-32 medallion.

I got a anser

"I think it was the name of a model when they put teak on the cockpit sole and on the rear caps and under the railings all the way to the bow. Also on the stairs to the bridge."

My gut feeling tell me the MEDALLION is a deluxe F32

I don't claim to be an expert, but I am sceptical that such a F32 model designation officially exists.

Why do you say that ? I don;t think owners would make it up . I have seen many f32's listed a "MEDALLION EDTION " ( or somthing like that )

I called and spoke with John at Marine Tech.
He said there was definetly, a Medallion. He couldn't say exactly what options made it a Medallion but that's just what it was...options added over the base configuration.

In 1977 for example, the F-series went to the fiberglass cockpit floor. You could actually order a teak floor which went over the fiberglass floor!

My 1978/79 (it was made in December 78 and has all 79 decals, fabrics etc.)
is a medallion, can't figure out what made it medallion aside from the medallion on the side of the house.

It was set up with four tanks, 360s and did come with a genny. perhaps it came with all options including no lower helm and a very useless wetbar 2-1/2 feet from the galley sink, built over the main wiring panel. (That is gone now.)
