Air in exhaust water solved

Post by bob wilkins »

All

Back in January I posted about air in my exhaust water.
I got some good feed back but no solutions.
As I mentioned in my post that I had replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets along with end cap and riser gaskets.
After that I had this issue with what appeared to be air in the exhaust water.
Over the weekend I ran the engine until the temp went up towards 200 degrees. Check the anti freeze level and it was low.
I then realized that the air that I saw was anti freeze.
The marine supply store gave me the wrong gasket kit. They sold me a sea water cooled gasket set instead of a fresh water set.
Sea water kit has an extra hole in the riser gasket.
Go figure.

Thanks for following up Bob. Its nice to document how problems were resolved. Although some people post borderline social media stuff here  , I view this forum as a place to share technical information that helps keep an orphaned brand alive. Plus it doesn't exactly inspire folks to be helpful when they take the time to post ideas, then never hear any feedback. Rusted bolt comes to mind. I hope the chandlery threw in some anti-freeze gratis.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!
