Greetings,
I purchased a Trojan F-28 with twin 318s at the end of last season. The boat is winterized and shrink wrapped on the hard currently. I was wondering if any members near Thousand Islands or Henderson Harbor NY would be willing to show me the ropes and share some of there knowledge on de-winterizing and piloting the boat. I have never driven a twin engine boat before.
I was thinking sometime in early June. Any help is appreciated.
Anyone near Henderson Harbor NY?

Hi Greg,
I'm approximately 100 miles away. One thing for sure, you're in a prime area for great boating. You're close enough for me to come and help and far enough away that others may be able to pitch in. We have a Trojan owner over on Lake Oneida near you.
Do you have a plan of attack for de-winterizing? Is the boat at a marina or on private property. I'm asking because the marina might get the boat ready for you plus launch her for you.
What prior background info do you have on the boat and her engines? Were you able at the time of purchase to water test the boat or are you beginning from scratch?
I suppose it might be a good idea to arrange for new impellers now, just for the sake of putting that potential problem to bed.
It sounds like you have some experience driving a single engine. I think you'll love the duals immediately.
Lets see where this thread goes. If it seems like a good idea as we move forward, I'll drive down and see you.
Cheers
Rick

Hi Rick,
Thanks for replying. I saw a Trojan F-32 for sale at a marina in Oneida Lake. I wonder if that is to whom you are referring. My F-28 is at a marina, and I am sure I can get them to de-winterize it, but I would like to participate so I can lean how to do it myself and learn how the systems work.
The boat was in the water when I purchased it, but the next day it was lifted out, and shrink wrapped, so I am really starting from scratch. The previous owner was disabled and didn't get to use the boat a lot, from what he said. I will ask him when the impellers were replaced last.
I am sure I could hire the dock master to take me out and show me how to pilot the boat, but I would rather spend some time with someone who has a passion for Trojans and experience with these boats. I would be willing to reimburse you for your travel expenses.
Lets keep in touch as the weather gets warmer.
