tROJAN 10M EXPRESS WASTE TANK

Post by chautauqualake10meter »

I have recently purchased this boat and I am truely in love with her!!! I have owned a few boats in my day and this one is by far the best quality boat i have encountered. the boat has just under 300 hours on it!!! It is like brand new!! I have put her inside storage for the winter and have a few projects i am attempting to finish before spring. new canvas and deck upholstery is the biggest, and that is being done now! The project i need help and guidance with is the waste tank. the current setup is for an overboard waste system. i have the boat on a 26 mile freshwater lake in western ny and an overboard system is certainly not allowed. i am trying to find a place to install a waste storage tank.....i am open to any help!! thanks!!

I have an 82 10 meter the waste tank is built in between the engines . The pump out is starboard by the helm just about over the overboard pump out.

holding tank

Post by BobCT »

It would have been nice if Trojan put "Express" or "Mid Cabin" or some other model name on the boat!

If it's a mid cabin (plenty of posts describing the differences), the holding tank is under the forward berth/bed. The deck plate pump out is on the Stb side bascially across from the head.

Different setup for the Express model. In either case, there's a holding tank and pump out somewhere unless it was removed.

Welcome to the forum.

This past spring I installed a new holding tank system on a boat that never had one. Was pretty easy since there was a perfect spot for it along the Stbd. wall. But it wasn't a Trojan.
There is a 10 meter at my marina. I'll be there this weekend and if he's there I'll check his boat out and let you know.

With the 85 10 Meter Express that I owned, the waste tank was located between the stringers in the engine compartment. If you did not know what you were looking at you would have just thought if was the bilge as it looks built in. It was located just forward of the battery box.
It was there but was not hooked up in any way when I purchased the boat.
The boat came from Thunderbolt Ga and had a treat and discharge overboard system on it so I had to change things over.

I am leary about putting the waste tank near the engines......isn't it an issue with the heat in the compartment and the waste tank there?

Jerry, where did you put the deck pump out at?

The mid cabin based models had the waste tank as a stand alone unit.

The vacuum liner models had the tank moulded into the hull between the stringers in the engine room.

The tank lid is the engine room floor.

Here's some pix of the latter with the lid removed for resealing.

Congrats on the new boat!
Yes, We are pretty close. I know your area pretty well as I use to work for a company out of Jamestown.
My 10 Meter was sold out of Erie. The business owner that purchased it only had it for about a year or so then fell on hard times. The last it was sighted it was heading east on I-90 towards it's new home in Lake Ontario.

My pump ended up right where RWS has his mounted on the starboard stringer. Very nice pics that he posted.
I would not worry at all about having the tank in the bilge with the engines.
Are you sure that you don't have a tank built in as RWS pics show?
The Electrasan unit that was on my boat was mounted just outboard of the starboard engine up next to the bulkhead.
