Re: Starter Ring Replacement In Water? LM 318

My new (maybe) mechanic came over yesterday afternoon and said without a crane that the engine cannot be lifted and supported to get access to the starter ring. What is he missing or failing to understand how he can get access and save me the $$$ of yanking it out of the water.

Thanks...

Starter Ring Replacement In Water? LM 318

Can a starter ring on a '78 Trojan 30 Express be replaced in the water? Trying to avoid taking it out of the water... I guess you figured that out by my question. I will not be doing the work.. and if you know of a good mechanic in the Atlanta area - Lake Lanier - pass that information on as well. T...

I did a search and found an interesting post.. gear moved?

Interesting... I will have to inspect better. This sounds logical.

Cabin Sink Drain Hose - F30 Express

The PO did a very good job of keeping up all repairs in pretty good fashion... but I found one not up to par. My cabin/galley sink started leaking water in to the drawers below. Looks like there was a leak before and it was fixed with a combination of duct tape and a big trash bag. Oh well it worked...

LED Replacement Bulbs

Yes you can get LED replacement bulbs... I think you are looking for a bayonet bulb - not a festoon bulb as shown. If you have the older set up. You can also buy the bulb sockets if you are having issues there. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fo...

Well I did it.

And if you knew me that is quite a ringing endorsement. I have a 30 Express. FB runs to lower helm so you should be able to identify where your issue is. Takes two people - one to see if the lower helm controls are moving. Now mine was replacing a lower teleflex to transmission - but it is probably ...

I Second Uship

I Second Uship. Especially if you can be flexible on dates. Hopefully you can hit someone coming out of there empty and you will be the beer money for their stop at the Dew Drop Lounge on the trip back. Just check credentials and customer reviews. Also keep in mind that the first bids you get, will ...

Check the ground first

Check the ground first before replacing any sending unit. I had the same issue - turned out to be a slipping connection of the grounding wire to the sending unit.

Not sure if that is your cause but I would check the simplest thing first and you may have already.

Battery On Off Switch

'78 F30 Express

I noticed that my port battery on / off selector under my steps has lost its snap and click which means it is not doing its job anymore...

Do you think there is a replacement or am I going to have to do one of those Guest selectors?

Thanks

Replaced Electric Head but...

All went rather smoothly and thanks to Playtex latex gloves not too bad. Now I have to hook up my switch. My old set up was where the power and switch ran through the internal electrical system. Power to the pump was the same.. Red/Red - Black/Black but the new momentary flush switch has 2 Pos/Red c...

Where did the bolts mount?

I am ASSUMING for the Jabsco manual that you can use some of the existing holes but you will have 2 mounting bolts outward. Where and how did you handle the two outward bolts?

Also... did you mount handle on the right side or left side?
