Re: An Engine Issue
It sounds like you enriched the mixture (counter-clockwise). For a leaner setting, you would turn clockwise.

Re: Mercruiser 228 MIE replacement...
I have a 1980 version of your 305 in my F26 — about the same number of hours. I’ve been a little unhappy with top end speed, and have thought maybe the engine was just tired. At the end of last year’s NY boating season, I went back to tinkering with carb adjustments on the 4bbl Rochester. I thought ...

Re: F32 Hollow Keel
The hollow keel in my F-26 is open -- accommodates a garden hose. The non-submersible pump is mounted at the head of the keel in the bow, and sits up three or four inches from the base of the keel. The pumps available through Harbor Freight or Amazon are threaded for hose fittings both in and out. T...

Re: Fresh Water Pump
On-demand pump when the switch is on. Water tank filled?
My F-26 uses pull-switches mounted on the lav bulkhead (one for the shower pump and one for water supply.) They are prone to corrosion and need periodic cleaning.

Might try setting the air/fuel mix a bit richer on each carb.

agree on source. To clean, try Tilex (test in a hidden space) or soft scrub.

Re: Closet light switch
Might search Amazon for Mr. Beams MB530. It's a self contained battery powered light with a motion sensor. We have a Civil War era house with a number of dark spaces, and these lights have worked well. (Ghosts apparently don't actuate the sensors.) In reading your post, it struck me that I could use...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?
I should add that easier docking in a crosswind is potentially dangerous, as well as frustrating — so hope your project is successful. Last October, I took an unplanned swim while trying to dock and tie up. At 71 and boating alone, that’s not ideal. But boat and boater survived fine, and I made a co...

Re: Lewco FS1240ACD Battery Charger
When I replaced the Sentry charger on my '80 F26, it was wired through a dedicated circuit breaker. I replaced it with a NOCO smart charger that plugs into a cabin outlet -- breaker for the Sentry is still in place, but switched off and taped over. I don't think I can easily remove either the Sentry...

There is quite a bit of room back there. Fo...

Re: Anyone had a Sideshift stern thruster installed?
Haven't thought about (or through) this, but maybe an electric trolling motor would work for you. Bow mount version, maybe, that would retract/fold up on the swim platform when not in use?
