Re: chrysler 383 carburetors
The 1409s are installed and have made a HUGE difference in the performance of my boat, no more backfiring (really front firing), much smoother and drastic increase in power. All of those things make for a happy fella, however...I still don't think I am getting full performance. I widened the opening...

New or Used Generator? Where to buy
I have finally given up on my old Kohler. The unit in my boat is the original 1969 model...it ran pretty good for the first couple of years that I owned the boat (after much work), then a couple of years ago it froze during the winter. I just replaced the head gaskets and rewired the entire unit...a...

Re: chrysler 383 carburetors
Perfect, thank you for the information. I assume that I need to buy an adapter plate (for each motor) to fit the edelbrock to the manifold where the carters were bolted up?

Re: chrysler 383 carburetors
By the way, while trying to "tune" my carters this last time my father asked what "afb" stands for. His wise friend who was helping us said, "add fuel backfire"! Pretty funny stuff.

Re: chrysler 383 carburetors
Perfect, thank you both so much! Two more quick questions:
1. Will the spark arrestors from my old carter afbs work with the edelbrocks? In other words...some "fitting" means?
2. Where did you find the best price on the edelbrocks you purchased?
Thanks!!!

chrysler 383 carburetors
Any advice on replacement carbs for my twin 383 engines? They currently have 4 barrel Carter AFB carbs...which I am not happy with. I have rebuilt them once already and both still seem to act up no matter how much "tuning" I have tried. I've been looking at the Edelbrock 600 and 750cfm mar...

Re: kohler genset
I have a few updates on the old Kohler genset, I want to thank Paul again for the part, we installed it and fired the genset up for the first time in two years, she purred to life and no smoke from the newly installed part! BUT...smoke started pouring out of a couple of capacitors so I shut her down...

Re: '69 Chrysler 383 Coolers
I sent an email to Anthony-Keats last night and they were quick to reply this morning. Price is comparable to what I found at Palmer, but timing was a little longer. Duh, on the contacting Beacon! That should have been my first try...will get in touch with him now. Thanks for the help!

'69 Chrysler 383 Coolers
Need a little help from the crew here. I would like to replace the engine oil and transmission oil coolers on my motors. I have had trouble with them in the past and it is time for some new parts when it comes to reliability. Here is my problem, I can't remember the dimensions!!! These are on a 1969...

Re: kohler genset
Unfortunately work has been too busy for me to get down to the boat yet, I was actually within about 5 miles of her the other day and didn't even have time to stop by and check in. Frustrating. I am very excited to try the part out though and hopefully will get down there soon...maybe this weekend!

Re: kohler genset
Unfortunately had to make a call to my mechanic yesterday to go ahead and winterize the boat (and gene)...getting too cold and too busy at work to get a chance to go down there again this season. I will be installing the part this spring though and very excited that it will hopefully fix the problem...

Re: kohler genset
Hopefully these pictures will display correctly. One photo is of the dataplate on the genset, the others are of the part in question - hopefully you can see the one end of the part is "burnt" - this is where the smoke came from. The smoke started as soon as I fired the genset up, it was st...
