Re: Need unbiased opinions on Trojan boats
I guess it depends on how handy you are and how much time you can devote. You are likely speaking of refinishing.... a job I hate but the end result is worth it. The 25' Trojan will remain a beautiful boat as the rest of the 25' designs are going towards a floating bar of soap. After 50 years of ste...

Re: Farewell To A Beautiful Lady
Not many of those still around. In July, I was anchored in Burlington Bay (Hamilton Harbour) since RHYC was full, and used my dingy to visit Macassa Bay Yacht Club. Got talking to a (relatively) young couple that just bought a 69 wooden Trojan. They were thrilled with it and plan to live aboard. I w...

Re: New to the Trojan family
For a generator on my boat, the original Onan was replaced with a Westerbeke 7.5 Low Profile. It is the quietest generator I've ever heard. There is absolutely no sound outside except a splash of cooling water (my bilge pump is louder) and the inside is a relatively pleasant hum. This might be becau...

Re: Boat Weight & Performance Curves
When I bought my 454 powered 1975 44 FBMY as the second owner, it came with the original Owner's Manual.... a typed 3 ring binder. In it, it claimed 27 mph top speed. I laughed because we cruise at 12 mph and I never pushed it. This is a fully loaded boat with every factory option along with the pre...

Great Lakes Weather Buoys
I just discovered this, but maybe a lot of you guys know about it. If you text 734-201-0750 and send the 5 digit number of the weather buoy you want, the buoy immediately texts you the weather at its location including wind, gusts and waves. For example, 45012 is the buoy mid Lake Ontario between Br...

Re: 1979 F28 Wood Interior
Update from my Admiral. After the Murphy's Oil Soap (a cleaner) is dry, she applies Scott's Liquid Gold. This is for the cabinetry. I use Cetol on the floor and decks. Regular Cetol is kinda muddy brown, but Cetol Light is really orange. For interior, another member suggested Cetol Doors and Windows...

Re: 1979 F28 Wood Interior
I agree with Oldboat1.
I'm moving into my Admiral's domain here, but she always uses Murphy's Oil Soap on our 1975 interior woodwork. It looks like new when done.
See how that looks before major refinishing.

Re: Posting Photos for the Forum
For what it's worth, I use Picassa (free download) to organise all my pictures on the computer. It does a fantastic job. When you export from Picassa, it automatically downsizes the image. You export to a file (that you create) and then upload to this site from that file. Extremely simple, even for ...

Here's my 1975 F44 FBMY
I'm the second owner. The original purchaser kept this boat like new and I am too.
All original, except the appliances that include a dishwasher, garbage compactor and aft salon bar fridge.

Re: 1976 F-44 an Off Shore Boat?
I just noticed your post from April and I assume that you've made the trip by now. However, I offer this....... The F44 was designed to have two separate fuel tanks port and starboard in the aft cabin. But this meant two separate single beds. Owners must have complained (as I would have) and so ther...

Re: generators
I also used a Honda 2000 in the swim platform for many years exactly as Paul did. I also knew the dangers that Big D highlighted and thank you for that. But that's not why I'm posting. My F44FBMY is the first boat I've had with an on-board generator (Westerbeke 7.0 kW..... very quiet.... outside, my...

Re: F44 (or any other Crusairs) A/C condensate leak
Thanks Drew
Although the Cruisairs are working perfectly, I decided that if the main salon one ever died, I would abandon it and do exactly what you did.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Re: F44 (or any other Crusairs) A/C condensate leak
Thanks for the compliment Drew. I've always loved the lines of yours and my boat. I've just got a lot more scraping and sanding. Not sure if your units are in the same place. When you said that you ran new condensate lines, how did you get to the condensate tray for the main salon? From the way the ...

Re: Hydraulic Lift
Thanks Jimbo, for Marc's contact info. I actually did find him (also how I found out you are no longer in Penetanguishene). I was looking for additional remote controls which I subsequently found from Interactive Technologies in Kansas. And thanks everyone for the "cool" comments. Actually...
