Hoping for a photo

I am adding a swim platform to my 1989 10.8 meter. I am hoping that someone could take a picture of the inside mounting. I understand that they are thru hull mounted and was curious of the set up inside the boat. My trojan has the one gas tank in the stern of the boat (the tank is right in the middle of the boat). Was hoping somone with the same set up could help out. Looking to do the job myself. I am curious of the backing plates. Thanks!

the factory backing plates were wood.

I found two cracked brackets on my swim platform when I became the owner in 2001.

Had the brackets welded and replaced the wood backing plates with starboard.

Much less flex now.

I was thinking they would be steel.... How big are the backing plates?

The backing plates on all of the Internationals that I have owned were all aluminum. That includes my current 12 Meter, and a 10 and 11 Meter.
I had all of the platforms off as I made the 10 and 11 Meters larger as I planned on doing the same to my current boat but other things came into play this winter so I will just put it back on for this year.
I did take a lot of pics at the time that the work was being done but most of them came up missing in a divorce.
I will be at the boat tonight if you would like I could measure the size of the plates for you. I don't know if they would be the same or not.

A measurement would be great! Do the bolts just have a single nut or are they double?

For the record, my 1983 10 meter express cruiser had wood backing reinforcements and still has a wood reinforcement behind the transom step.

I would also make another point - make sure that each one of the swim platform brackets is tied into the vessels bonding system. For some reason the previous owner (original owner) removed and or cut every bonding wire in this boat.

How would you tie the brackets into the bonding system???

I did not get down to the boat last night as I was at work late but I will get down there soon and measure the backing plates.
The brackets are attached to the bonding system through the mounting bolts. All of my Internationals have used green 10 gauge wire.

My oldest one was a 1985 and the newest a 1989 so they may have changed something along the line. We did have a 1982 10 Meter Express here in town at one time and he did also have the wood backing. He had banged up his swim platform pretty good so I hooked him up with a friend that fixed it.... and of course was recruited to help with the r&r.

So does each bracket need it's own wire? Do you just splice them all together and pigtail to the bonding system?

The bonding system should go daisy chain best case is it be continuous with no interruption or splicing and connect to every metal part or assembly

Here's the photos from the inside of the transom on my 1983 10 meter International.

The bonding system ties each one of the stainless swim platform brackets into it .

All of the wooden backing plates have been replaced with starboard.

Thank You so much for the photos! Did you double up the starboard pieces? What guage is the wire for the bonding? Is the end of the wire just a circle that slips over the bolt?

1) I doubled up the starboard for strength, Probably should have vsed a thicker starboard, but this eliminated the flex that was there.

2) The wire is probably 8 guage. Every connection I have done on this boat is to ABYC standards and includes a terminal and heat shrink sealant.

3) the end of the wire is a "ring terminal"

Glad to be able to provide the info. Many people helped me when I first got this boat and I'm happy to p[ass along any info I can.

I have learned a great deal from my own hands on experience with this 10 meter, especially through the refitting process. Relioability and longevity are the thinbgs that are most important to me. I know when I turn the key that she will start and I know nearly every square inch of her. I also know what she still needs to have done as well as the normal O & M.
