ATTN Midcabin Owners /prop size?
I have 17 x 17 x 3 and the boats a pig. One prop shop says I need 17 x 14 x 4. The prop calc I ran says 17.5 x 13.5 x 4.
I'm leading towards 18 x 14 x 4.
What are you running?

I have an 87 mid cabin
it looks like yours from the photo, but yours seems much cleaner!!
I called John at marine tech (717-684-4145) at least 2 x. He says they use 16 x 17 3 blade cup, neigh brow (sp) that's what I ordered and put on. btw John said at
2850 rpm should run 16 mph
3300 rpm 21
3750 rpm 26 mph
4400 rpm 33 mph
should run at 5 1/2 degree dead rise. get a level app for you iphone and sit it on the dash to check dead rise.
Truefully I haven't been able to get mine to 4400 rpm in sometime, but for the amount of gas it uses there, I don't want to run it like that anyway.

That is what I run on my F32... I think the 14 pitch is too low for your application, I would go 17x16 or 17x15... my 3 blade is 16x15 for comparison.S.A.M. wrote:After talking with Ron Kruger from GETAPROP, I've ordered 17 x 14 x 4 blade props.
I'll let you know what happens after they are installed.

with out knowing the power or the gears what it doing now its all a guess , . "the boats a Pig" with 17x17 . slow to get on top ? or slow top end ? both ? want rpm are you turning ?
The "boats a pig" only tells you the owner is not happy with it

Before changing out the props, has anyone tried some lipstick?

That's why I was trying to get a consensus of other midcabin owners. Most likely all midcabins came with 7.4Ls and 1.52:1 gears.prowlersfish wrote:with out knowing the power or the gears what it doing now its all a guess , . "boats a pig" means it's like a lazy fat ass who is slow to get out his chair and once he does, he moves very slow and is not at his peak efficiency. Best explanation I can give.

What rpms are you turning ? top speed ? crusing speed at what rpm ? Is the bottom clean ? and how much gear do you carry ? all that is factors in comparing boats and proping them . you may have a proplem or wjats normal may not feel right to you .
