Holding tank

Hi ,

I recently purchased a 1977 Trojan F-32, I have have spent the last 5 weeks cleaning the boat, I have stripped the interior teak and varnished everylast piece, I reupolstered the dinette seats, recovered the bulkhead along the dinette and in the forward cabin. The exterior teak has been sanded, cleaned and brightened and now has a gleaming 7 coats of Z-Spar varnish, this past weekend I did the dreaded task of replacing all of the holding tank hoses, all of them. I had filled the holding tank with fresh water and a half a bottle of Pine-Sol and it sat for about 3 weeks before I pumped it out before this job, which made the task a little more tolerable.

Anyways, my holding tank is in the bow of the boat in the peak below the bunks, is this the factory location? The macerator pump must pump waste from the head, up and over to the tank, a total of about a 10' run and up hill so it tacks a fair amount of flush water to make sure waste makes it to the tank, with this system, it would seem that for every "pee" it would take a bout a gallon of water to get it to the tank. (no poo allowed in the boat unless your dying and can't make it to the clubhouse)
It seems that the logical place should have been below the sole in the dinette galley area.

I believe that is the factory location. Mine was there... I removed it and went to a composting head and so need no water nor holding tank. My buddy moved his to under the galley sink.

Is your head a Vacu flush? If it were it would use much less water about a half liter per flush.

Thanks for the information,
I have not figured out to post a photo, this sight seems to make you jump though a lot of hoops for a simple photo.
Anyways,
I am located in San Diego CA and Keep the boat at the Coronado Yacht Club in Glorietta Bay, I bought the boat up in the Port of Long Beach, the previous owner appeared to have let her sit for quite some time so there was a fair amount of defered maintenance. That being said, I bought her for a song.
I did have the hull and machinery surveyed by two seperate surveyors, engines first, and it is a sound boat, howeve, she was dirty and full of stuff.
My wife and I have spent every weekend cleaning and it has really paid off, the boat is coming around and we enjoyed the 4th of July weekend on the boat.
