F 36 lifting question

Post by Struts and Rudders »

Hello all F36 owners...

My boat does not have sling labels...where do you guys locate the front sling.

I know the back sling will run along the aft engine room bulkhead...not sure about the forward sling...no beam width bulkheads forward of the forward engine room bulkhead.

Please provide me with a measurement from a cleat or something...a photo would be great.

Thanks,

Aft strap at rear bull head , front strap is not as important in placement but right around the windshield area works well but I have had the straps more forward with out issues ,

I may add on the rear sling you have to watch the spray rail as the sling can put a lot of pressure on it a fender put below it seems to help . Not sure how your lifting but I assume a crane ? I trust you will be using a spreader ? ( if thats the right name) as you don't want to put a lot of presser on the sides ( and why you what to be at the rear bulk head) . Forgive me if I tell you something you know . As I believe you know lifting with cranes very well .

Actually I am re working the rub rail and wanted to beef up the area where we intend to lift in the future.

Thanks for your input...

As Paul said you should have little or no pressure on the rubrail or hull sides of Trojan's. So no need to beef up.... there should be little side pressure on that location.

The straps should be under the hull and away from the rest of the boat.
One needs to make sure that the travel lift/crane straps move away from the boat after passing the hull bottom edge!

Thanks for your input...

Someone in the past was not so gentle with the lift or they slammed into the dock quite a bit... we have a fair amount of gelcoat cracking!
We will be grinding it out and faired prior to painting.

Also replacing the backing boards for the rubrail.
