1991 10.8 Meter BERTRAM for sale - Really???

Post by todd brinkerhoff »

This is a 1991 TROJAN 10.8 Meter Express for sale. As I have mentioned earlier, this was the new International prototype created prior to Trojan going under. These are rather rare, so if you are interested in one and have questions that I guarantee the seller will not tell you, let me know.

Problem #1 - It was not MADE by Bertram. I am really baffled why some people try to attach the boats that have a plate stating Bertram-Trojan to Bertram, when in fact it is really a Trojan. Is there some added value to Bertram?

Problem #2 - It's overpriced, for the boat and the market. The canvas is trashed and the boat is not that clean.

These are really great boats if they came from the right person and you are willing to invest some time and money. Let me know if you want some info on the 10.8.

Is the duct tape on the eisenglass Bertram factory applied or perhaps it's an aftermarket item?

This boat is no Carver, but it would concern me that a guy who duct tapes his vinyl will probably not deal with bigger problems properly. :(

i sent the broker an email this morning asking if the tap on the 'glass' was factory or an option.

take a look at pic #19 (electrical panel). in almost 25 years, the layout is still the same and yet, this 1991 version has one set of polarity lights not working. those ALCO GT-33's really do not stand up to the test of time. see my response to the panel light thread from last week.
she needs some tlc for sure.

I ll be nice and leave that comment alone .

I am a big boy and can take a little kidding , Even if was life threatening event . One that has change me forever and the way I boat. It almost killed me from doing the repairs , as I worked until I collapsed one night .but if I did not do it and get back "on the horse" , the boat may be still sitting there .It was worth the work . And I am a better person for it. Unless someone was there they would not understand >

I don't think any harm was intended or occurred . Just a little ribbing .
