i mean no disrespect first and foremost. i'm just curious how it's mounted and if there is a problem with a standard window unit in a marine environment. again, i mean absolutely no disrespect. i'm just curious.

I used two before myself , work well no issues other it looked somewhat ugly . mine was mounted thru the rear bulkheads ( above deck of course ) in both cases . It made some overnight trips possible that We would not have done otherwise due to the heat . Shore power only no genset.

One big plus jelly fish , no issue .

Thanks for the photos Ross & Ready. The 4207's is real close and I would need the glass forward of the doors. The look of the 4207's aft deck is why I'm looking at doing it. After looking at a move up. We're sticking with what we have, NO PAYMENTS..

Aaron as far as that window unit good lord who knows. The saloon/salon on a 3607 shares a A/C - Heat pump with the fwd section and it's own they'll turn my boat in to a meat locker on the hottest days. So I only have to assume the marine unit is O.O.C. and the owner doesn't want to replace it.

Ready123. What does the guy being cheap have to do with Carver ? There's lots of cheap owners of all kinds...I for one wouldn't do what he did, Would call someone who cuts up a 25 yr old teak door or a solid bulkhead on his boat to put one in cheap or put one under a settee bench the exhaust it in to his engine room cheap ? I've seen all this done to Trojan's...On this site. So let's agree you don't like Carvers ok I get it everyone else gets it. I've been on both boats of the same age and seen that my 3607 is made just as well and in some cases better than Tri's and seen some thing's on Tri's that I wish Carver had done or done better.

That boat is from up north , Maybe it did not come with AC when new . On most Boats its a option not a cheap one at that. A lot of Boats did not come with AC . This goes for High dollar and not so expenseve boats.

When I use a window unit on 2 boats it was becuse I did not want to spend 2 grand to put it in and on 1 boat there was no room for a built in unit. call me cheap I was able to cruse in hot weather when it was to hot for others. Maybe ugly but they felt good.

Built in AC is the way to go BUT some times you got to do what you got to do. Luckly I have 2 built in AC units now .

As far as exhusting AC in to the enging room thats nuts

Not a Brand thing this goes for all makes .

The cheap is to owner..... not Carver.
You shouldn't be so sensitive about Carver.... 'tis only the new one's that are not so good looking.

Time you beef up transom, repaint, buy a bracket and a pair of outboards you could have bought 5 used 440s that would run for many years. Plus, you might be boating this year - not 5 years from now when you get the other rig done.

Not to mention resale ...

Still don;t get why you're reluctant to put a 440 back in there ... :?:

Not really all that sensitive Ready123, but knowing your feeling's on them does make me keep thoughts that you're taking a shot...

I'll be making the door framework myself. Thought on oak sealed with west system the gell-coat or S/S and tig weld it. ...

I am heading to the marina shortly and will take some up close pics of the wing doors on that 4207 I sent the link to. Let me know if you care enough for me to post 'em or email to you.... otherwise I will just delete.
