im almost ready to pull these old 318's. would you pull them with the transmissions attached? looks like there is enough clearance. also if i unbolt the 2 flages that connect the trans to the shaft this will come apart right?
also what else should i remove before i try to pull this engine out? everything is unhooked and it looks like it will fit up through the whole. then with it out i can remove all the parts i need to save.
also im going to remake the 2 spray rails on the outside of the hull. what type of wood is best. and where can i get the stainless trim thats goes over them. mine is cracked in a couple places and has some rust.
thanks you guys are very helpfull. im sure to call on you some more as i further along this project.[/url]
I used African Mahogany to make the new spray rails on my F36. Where are you located? I still have a peice left that might make both of yours.

When I pulled my GM 305's, I removed everything that I could get off, minus the transmissions.
Manifolds and risers, alternators, heat exchangers etc. for me it made them lighter and easier to hande.
if you can pick them straight out, Im not sure I would worry
the Transmission coupling should seperate from the shaft coupling, you can push the shaft coupling out just enough to clear when the engines are lifted out.
I just disconnecte the electric , water hoses, and pulle all in one power package on my F28. It is whole lot easier taking apart and reassembling the power pack in the shop assuming the room you have is sufficient to pull the enginesl.

looks like there is just enough room to get them out. i might have to shift a little back and forth while there coming up.

the marina where we are at has a forklift. they will help with the pull out and reset as long as i use 1 of there venders. just so happends a marine mechanic i know is on there vender list.
man that real nice. where did you find the stainless trim for those? i need that as well. and where do you find mahogany?
The stainless was already on the boat and I searched the local lumber companies to see who dealt with exotic woods to find the mahogany.
