I sure wished it had too, would have saved me a whole lot of money.

Free Trojan NEEDS a home.

Hey guys, long time no see. I have a dilemma, I have to get rid of our 25' '69 Sea Raider. She's definitely a heavy project, likely needs a refit and a new motor at a minimum. She can't go in the water until two drilled holes in the transom are filled and she doesn't have a trailer. I don't want to ...

I think the answer will depend on what you consider the most important use of the radar. If you want it for inclement weather then the answer is the lower helm as that is where you'd most likely drive from if the weather drops out on you. If you want it for all weather navigation use then install it...

Maybe I should have read something else first but why was this needed?

Federal regulations make it clear enough that you can't discharge sewage that close to shore.

Jason I pay 2200 a year for my 36 footer , But I am only 20-25 miles from you by water ( hampton Va ) Are you planing to move to the Left coast ? A lot of ifs down the line, yes. If I get a commission in NOAA, and if I get assigned to a ship in the Hydrographic field, I'll be home-ported in either ...

Mooring Rates

I know we have members all over so I thought I'd ask here. What sort of marina rates do you guys have going? I'm thinking I'm missing some info, the marina down the road is showing approx $3000 a year for their most expensive slips. Looking at marina's out in Seattle, WA or Ketchikan, AK appear to b...

Out of curiosity. All the instructions I've seen for wood boats nowadays, Glen-L and the like, typically end with coating the hull with epoxy or even a layer or two of glass.

Would this alleviate a lot of the maintenance issues on the hull?

All of this was meant with the utmost in respect for your stated goals, and I hope you take them in the spirit with which they are given - as positive, constructive ideas. Of course. If my mind was made up I wouldn't be asking ;). Criticism tends to be a bit mroe realistic than praise. OK - time fo...

I just don’t think you realize what you will be getting into. You may want to conceder a newer boat with a glass hull. There are many that have the charm of wood outside and in the cabin. I realise it, I'm just not real keen on accepting it. I don't know why but it seems like most designers lost ...

Alright, just to get it out of the way first, I'm insane, moreso than the average boater, on that note here's the background, or you could just skip this bit and get to the question. Background: Febuary 5th, may have been a pivotal day in my life. The NOAA Officer Selection Board met to review candi...

It is now a smoker trailer belonging to the previous owner :? kind of a pain in the arse but I guess since he didn't know or want what he had I got a free boat.

If you replaced the deck with fibreglass you could use a product called Plasdeck that would give the teak look at what (I think) is a lower price.

http://www.plasdeck.us/index2.htm runs up to about $17.50 a square foot.

Here's another: http://www.nuteak.com/materials.htm

I have basically the same boat, except mine is the 69 hardtop express. Found my trailer on craigslist. One thing to keep in mind is that many trailers won't work due rear cross bars that leave no room for the prop/shaft to not come in contact with the trailer. Mike Thanks Mike, I'd assume that mean...

Trailers

How do I go about finding a trailer for our Sea Raider? Are there certain characteristics I need to look for or certain places to find them for sale.

Normally I can find this sort of stuff online easily but this is proving to be a bit more challenging.
