Hello. I installed three knob replacement controls from cruiseair. They arent very expensive. They certainly might be worth not having to do it yourself. I think buying down frustration is one of the best investments you can make. That and creating something from scratch seems to have so many hidden...

Electric Heating while at the Dock

Howdy boys. It's been a while. I have been neglecting the boat for a bit. I guess my question stems from that. I want to extend the usage of my boat, at least the cabin space, into the winter. I have two breakers that run the A/C sitting at 15A each (I think). I have four empty slots on that line fo...

I drilled a through hull for my Lectra-san in August. I used 3M FC 5200 and it cured up fast. I had it back in the water the next day. No leaks.

FX-1 Retro fit for HVAC **Update

Hello all, I finally got my new digital controls installed and I thought I would give a quick review. Installation was pretty straight forward. My Trojan (86 Tricabin) has two units. One in the fore sandwiched between the V berth clost and the forward wall of the main salon and another under the sta...

Screen Door

Howdy,

I have hinges on the inside of my door jam on my '83 Tri-Cabin. Any idea if these were stock? Does anyone have one laying around?

AU furniture

I have searched extensively for a sleeper sofa for my Trojan Tri-Cabin. I not only found a replacement but an improvement in the original size. The AU furniture company makes a better engineered sofa that gives you a crapload more space to sleep on than the old style ones. I went to a retail store h...

A/C while away

I returned to by boat last night and my neighbor was all upset that I left my A/C running while I was away. He was certain that I would sink my boat. I thought he was overreacting. I mean this thing has been in service for 25 years without a problem. I don't see it suddenly bursting a pipe and filli...

Digital A/C Controls

I'm looking to change out my old three knob A/C control unit for a computerized one. Has anyone done this conversion? http://www.cruisair.com/sheets/L-0613A.pdf It looks all snazzy like this: http://www.cruisair.com/smx.html Runs $700 a unit.. They make it sound like all of the functions are depende...

Well, we have a few refineries, one of the busiest ports in the country and, with the addition of a lovely promenade, tons of trash from the foot traffic. ...If we only had a cracken...that'd show 'em

I cant imagine what that would look like in the Patapsco or the Chesapeake. a slightly brighter brown shade, with hazy outlines of shopping bags, gatoraide bottles and other bits I would imagine. The oil on the surface might create a nice effect though

Piggybacking AC/Heat on Shore Power #2

Hey Mates, I was planning on installing a more efficient heating system for when the water gets too cold for the heat pumps, or for when I suck up some bit of trash in the intakes during the colder months. I was thinking of adding two breakers on the Shore Power 2 line and installing some of these &...

My units are in the wall between the salon and the V berth on the Starboard side and under the stairs from the main hatch/door. More A/C units would have certainly fixed the issue, but you're right the Amperage would be too great for the 30A shorepower. Hmmm, which leads me to another question...I'l...

I think I have the standard Cruiseair units that came stock. 5000 and 9000 BTUs. They work very well. on the hottest of days, like two days ago, it will still be a little muggy in the salon, but by dusk I'll be freezing. My main problem is trying to find a happy medium. It seems I either have all or...

Thank you. I do have a breaker on the A/C box labeled "Battery Charger" but I am unable to locate it. Could you describe yours? If there is a hard wired breaker for it I would imagine that I would trace one of the many red wires that are clamped to the terminal.

Thanks again.
