With the snow and no marina key ect.ect. I have not seen it since. So when I get on it today I find the props are: 24x25 4 blades, Shafts...

Shaft zincs and bonding system
I have an 11M that the shaft zincs would go in a couple of months, and the transom zinc was relatively untouched. This happens when there is corrosion in the bonding system. The first place to check is where the bonding system joins the ss bolt inside the transom that the zinc bolts to on the outsid...

plastic window sealant and technique
I found the Sikaflex manual and they have detailed information about plexiglass bedding techniques. Go to : http://www.bluemoment.com/downloads/sikaflexmarinehandbook.pdf They recommend Sikaflex 295 UV In any case, DO NOT use Polysulfide sealant on plastic components! -ref from the Don Casey library...

11 M International sedan windshield leak
Does anyone know how the rubber seal locks into the aluminum windshield frames on an 11 M International sedan? I think I have a leak coming from the curved plastic sections of the windshield, and need to rebed both of them in butyl tape. The rubber trim appears to be joined in the corners and it won...

back flushing raw water intake
1978, yes the impeller spins freely, do you have to back flush this system? what is the best method? Simply connect a garden hose to the raw water intake at the onan water pump and turn it on. Water should flow back through the strainer and overboard through the seacock. You did check to see if the...

Hand held VHF as a backup
I agree with you guys about having a backup handheld VHF. -Someone can take it ashore to the beach etc and call the boat. -Great to have in the ditching bag. -Makes a backup to your 25 watt built in VHF if you add one critical part: A handheld has such limited range mainly because of it's rubber ant...

windshield leak
I am starting to get windshield leaks just above the opening awning window on my 11M. Maybe time to rebed the glass in butyl tape. As far as the 12M convertible hull goes, I don't know first hand, but I can't see the 11M being cored and the 12M not. They are almost identical boats except one has a m...

Re: cored hull or not
Thanks for the additonal information. The 11 meter sedan is one of the two or three boats I am considering in my search for a boat. If it is cored I will pass. Who is Beacon Marine? What are their credentials regarding a 11 meter sedan being cored or not? Thanks Hi fighterpilot, Don't dismiss the c...

Re: A different Nav Light question
Sounds to me like it is wired correctly. The light on the arch is your anchor light. If you want to update it from a 2 bulb incandescent fixture, get one of the new all round LED lights. They have a better range and consume only a fraction of your precious battery power. Reliability is also much imp...

Stock AC units
Yes there is a Onan 8kva genset onboard. i was thinking along the same lines with ripping it all out and installing a remote water or air cooled condenser/compressor , what does this boat usually have as A/C if it was ever a standard. Hi Aussie, I have a 1985 11M and it came with 2 reverse cycle wa...

sniffer for gas fumes
I believe it is regulation to use the blower for at least 4 min before starting either a main engine or the genset. The reason to do a sniff test of the blower exhaust is to detect any trace of gasoline. Obviously if there is any, it is time to delay the start and investigate. A wise old Coast Guard...

Rotation of 454 crusaders
My 1985 11 M has counter rotating 454s. Port engine is LH and the starboard is RH. (it is the oddball) Marine engine rotation is as observed from the flywheel end, or opposite to a car! Crusader puts a plaque on the top of the flywheel. It is just below a black rubber cover that has"remove to t...

11 meter cored hull
I own a 1985 11m international convertible and it is a fully cored hull. Inspect your bilge wherever there is a through hull fitting to see if the thickness tapers down where the fitting is. The other obvious place to check is pull the carpet back from the wall (hull) of the forward starboard locker...
