Hull problems

I bought a 1985 10 meter convertible in December 2010 on the deck and didn't catch this hull issue. Here's the issue - I can tell that the hull on the starboard side below the galley somewhere leaks a tiny bit. When she's in the water, I can see water weeping in ever so slowly. There's a longitudina...

Genset on your 10meter

Got it about the genset.

Keep in mind that some parts for the MCCK are very expensive.

There's a guy I've spoken with at Cummin Bridgeway about that Onan. Cummin bought Onan some time ago. Spark plugs for example are $200 each.

Value - 1989 - 10meter

A few of the key questions: Last December I bought a 1985 10 meter on the hard. It worked well. Paid under $21,000, very pleased with my purchase. Genset was there, but needs major repair. Bottom paint - 4 years no redo? WTF !! But that gives you an idea what you're dealing with, and the owner proba...

1985 Trojan - 10 meter convertible fuel gage erratic

My fuel gage is erratic as hell when RPMs above idle. When at idle, I trust the reading. I believe the item I need to replace is the fuel sender? A very low cost Delphi unit? I have the model with a 250 gallon tank under the aft deck. Is it a simple little item, or does it go down to the bottom of t...

I'd rethink that auto engine

I'll second the earlier comments on using the auto engine. You will need at the very least to put marine lifter springs in this motor. The springs will be tuned (spring rate and spring constant) in marine applications for a constant rpm at whatever the optimal speed - whether its 2800, 2900, 3000, o...

My Fuel consumption this weekend

I am a new owner of a 1985 10 meter flybridge. Ran her about 32 miles, used about 60 gallons, I think. the fuel gage is erratic except when I have engines off. Need a new sender. Some of the particulars: twin 454's velvet drives - 1.92:1 trim tabs, fully bow down (is that my problem?) smooth waters ...

got a question about the Onan myself

I have a 1985 10m flybridge. The Onan won't turn. When I hit the starter the relay only clicks. When I short out the posts on the relay, it clicks and draws enough current to dim the 12v bulbs, even when on shore power. Still working on trying to get the crank to turn, but no luck yet. Most folks I ...

Fuel sender - mine erratic too

I have a 1985 - 10meter flybridge.

The fuel tank is under the rear deck.

Any ideas where the sender might be?

Is it a big job to replace it?

Looks like a pretty low cost item, no?

washdown pump location - I am equally curious

I have an '85 10 meter - its new to me.

There's a breaker on the 12 volt panel for washdown, but other than that, I have NO idea where it might be.

Can anyone help?

I bought my 1985 10 meter flybridge last December when she was on the deck. Paid a bit more than you, but she's in better shape than what you described (at least that's what I have to tell myself to keep from feeling bad). Anyhow, similar deal. And it has worked out very well. I'm with Prowler. Just...

clicking noise

The clicking noise was the starter relay in the batt compartment.

The switch is downline from the relay.

Water was in my engine bilges too

When I bought my 10meter in December there was a lot of bilge under the engines. And it stayed there intop the spring when I launched her. I asked the bonehead who I bought the boat from what that was all about, he told me the through hulls leak a little. Then I sealed the gunwhale - that's right, i...

digital synchronizer

Is it typical that you all use your analog tacho's?

My 10 meter has those, but, as most of you have stated, they're not the best.

My hole in the water came with a digital synchronizer which gets them dead nuts.

Anyway, I'll bet that digital unit is pretty cheap.

check the heating element

You sure you need a new unit?

You might get away with a heater element swapout.

Heefus is my hero

Gentlemen,

Heefus is a genius.

Nuetral saftey switches were not made.

If anyone knows where the switches are, so I can throw relays for LED's at the helms, please advise.
